The Anticipated Update

Hello Sweet Friend,

What can I say? It’s been a busy year! Ha! I know I’ve really been MIA so let me catch you up and explain what’s been going on here.

Well it all started when I returned back to work after a year long maternity with our third little girl, Hazel. The year off was great, and I knew I had a lot to work on the blog, but just as I finally caught up on house stuff (and sleep!!), well September rolled around and it was time to head back to my full-time job. A week after I started back at work, at 6am on a Thursday morning, in my pyjamas surrounded by the kids, Clint proposed to me. We are officially engaged… then a few weeks after I returned I jetted to Cuba for my best friend’s wedding, came back, celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, and was off to Toronto for the Food Bloggers Conference of Canada!

That conference was an absolute game changer for me (even though you haven’t even really seen anything recipe-wise from me in a while… a long while)… FBC2016 was 3 days jam packed with delicious food, amazing seminars, great get togethers, and just a PILE of information overload (in a good way). I am absolutely heading back this October, and this year it’s my hometown Ottawa! #Ottawa150

After all of that craziness, Christmas came… along with the discovery we were expecting another little girl to make an appearance in May of 2017. Yup, little lady number four was joining our pack. Clint and I were absolutely elated (and I was absolutely exhausted), but we carried on… and what was really difficult this past year was my brutal work hours. I worked later in the day (thankfully my job and my boss allowed me to choose my hours) so I could get Hazel ready for daycare, and Ève and Audrey ready for school and let them catch the bus. By the time I got to work it was 9:30am, and would head home at 6pm that night. It was a very busy time, and kind of went by in a blur.

After Christmas was getting ready for baby girl #4, and then on May 8th, 2017 our beautiful little girl Clodagh Patricia Suzanne arrived at 7:15pm weighing 6lbs 8oz and was 19 inches long. Melt my heart.

Since Clodagh’s arrival, we have been busy with a toddler, two older ladies, and now a 3 month old who is a curious and sweet little girl. This summer has been absolutely amazing. I thought it would be totally crazy with all of the kids home, but we have kept ourselves busy! We’ve been going to the library weekly, we saw a movie in the park, celebrated Canada Day in our community, went to La Machine (downtown Ottawa), visited Mosaicanada… and now we are just finishing up a week at the cottage (and here’s a hint: the next post will be my “Cottage Muffins”). Take a moment and follow me on Instagram to see all the latest adventures we are on, along with #sneakpeeks for recipes to come!

I don’t know about you, but September always says to me “ringing in the new year”. Maybe it’s because I have two girls who are going back to schools, but by mid-August I seem to be compiling my to-do list for the upcoming year, and now finding a new schedule to adapt to. I have some exciting recipe ideas coming to the kitchen, along with a lifestyle section that I want to share with you. My focus will be staying within the kitchen but with four kids my life is busy, and family is what I’m all about.

So that’s really what has been happening… the last year has been busy – and I can’t be thankful enough for all of the adventures and blessings we’ve gained along the way. I feel rejuvenated, and ready to tackle new recipes, some fun lifestyle updates, and connect back with you.

Thank you so much for sticking around, and if you’re new: WELCOME! I look forward to connecting with you this fall and beyond. Have a wonderful weekend, and we will defiantly chat soon!

Cheers,
From my family to yours xo
