Strawberry Banana Oatmeal Smoothie

I can’t believe how fast the 15th of the month has come… again. It always feels like one #FoodieMamas post launches and when I least expect it, it’s time for next months! Well let me tell you about what happened to me when putting today’s post together. I had this excellent frozen treat idea, and then it failed… I mean it failed HARD, so I had to think fast. And this amazing recipe came together in minutes.

Smoothies are a great way to start your morning, recover after a work out, or cure a sweet craving. There are so many options when creating them, that sometimes it’s hard to duplicate. When putting this together I wanted to make sure that this would be perfect for the morning and keep you satisfied. Besides, oatmeal is so good for you, but now that I can see summer peaking through, the idea of a hot breakfast on a hot morning kind of put me off.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup coconut water

Directions:

  1. Add everything to a blender and pulse until smooth.
  2. Note: If you want a smoother drink, and find the oats too corse, try pulsing them alone in the blender before you add everything else.
  3. Top with cacao nibs and enjoy!
