Review: Essential Oils Made Easy
Hello Sweet Friends! Can you believe we are over half way throughout bring break, and I’m still alive! #success.
I love my girls, but having a baby along with two very active pre-teens young girl, you can imagine life got a little stressful around here… and that’s where this handy-dandy book came into play.
I’m fairly new to the essential oil world. I’ve been using them for house cleaning but never thought of diffusing them or using these amazing roller bottle blends. As a newbie, I felt a little lost, and not entirely sure of what to do, what to buy, and how does one create this? And like magic, it appeared in my inbox. Ok, so maybe I’m over exaggerating a little bit, but it is true: I did want to know more about essential oils, and honestly the new Essential Oils Made Easy: DIY Diffuser & Roller Bottle Blends by Chantal Bernard e-book did come through my inbox. What can I say… I was intrigued.
FYI Friends, this is a sponsored post. This E-Book was given to be in exchange for my review of the book. All opinions and expressions are my own.
So here I am… calm and ready for the day full of motivation.
When I first received Chantal’s book I was excited. She clearly states in the Preface that this is really geared towards newbies like myself. People who maybe have dabbled a little in it but felt really overwhelmed with all that the internet and Pinterest had to offer… I can remember typing a quick search in google and was bombarded with options – none of which I could really get a handle on.
Diffusers
Essential Oils Made Easy: DIY Diffuser & Roller Bottle Blends, is broken down into several parts will descriptions for each. She has a chapters all about diffusers, how to use them, and what to use them for. She explains how to pick the right one for you, and I never knew there were so many options and things to consider when making this investment.
Chantal gives you a host of recipes that will help you navigate what mood you are trying to achieve. I actually have a diffuser on it’s way in the mail as we speak. I am ridiculously excited to try her Sweet Dreams Diffuser recipe, and I know this fall when allergies are on the attack, her Seasonal Smiles Diffuser recipe should fit the bill!
Roller Bottle Blends
Later on in her 38-page e-book, she talks about roller bottle blends. Let me explain: you’re at your desk (like I am often) and you’re typing away and you can feel the tension crawling up your shoulders, up through your neck and it’s only 10am. #WhatADay Then you feel tense, irritated, and stressed. You have deadlines at work, for school, or frankly you just don’t want that tension to follow you around all day. What does a person do?
Go into your purse, knapsack, desk drawer, pencil cup holder… where ever… reach our your little roller bottle blend and apply the contents of this little bottle of goodness to your shoulder/neck area, your wrists or (if no one is around :P) the bottom of your feet! Feel the tension melt away and carry on with a productive day! What’s in this bottle of stress relief? You will have to buy the book to find out, but let me tell you it’s worth every. single. penny.
How about dealing with an allergy attack that’s coming upon us this spring?? There’s a roller bottle blend for that!
My Creations
But how do you know if you’re creating what works for you?
Chantal provides you a list of the ingredients for each recipe. In her roller bottle blends, there is a “base” of ingredients that you will need in order to create what you are looking for. After that, you use the essential oils you need for each specific one you’re creating.
As I was reading (and hoping my diffuser would show up already), I decided to try out the roller bottle blends. Off to the store I went to get the few supplies I was missing, and then I got down to creating. It was a lot of fun! I was immediately drawn to The Wake Up Roller. This energy blend was exactly whatI needed since Hazel has been teething lately (and waking up a few times in the middle of the night…). I use the blend immediately when I wake up (it’s sitting on my night stand as we speak), and as a mid-afternoon pick me up. I feel uplifted, rejuvenated, and less likely to reach for another cup of coffee.
Next on my list of creations was The Blemish Buster Roller Bottle Blend. Yup! Blemishes be gone! Think of it: no toxins on my skin. All natural products. As a mom of crazy sweet girls, and a blogger, I can sometimes stay up until the wee hours of the morning which can mean my skin looks tired and dull which can lead to break outs #teenagerproblems. Not what a girl wants. So this palm-sized, hand-dandy, blemish buster lives among my skin care routine items… and can be thrown into my makeup bag at anytime since it’s the perfect size to travel with.
The other that stood out as a huge “MUST MAKE” was the Itch-Be-Gone Roller Bottle Blend. I have two girls who would live in the outdoors if I let them. While that’s not a bad thing, it also means that they catch every itch imaginable. So I whipped up a special one of them that lives with out first-aid kit.
A note directly from Chantal about using essential oils for kids
One:
“When making essential oil roller blends for children it is important that the blends are more diluted than blends used for adults. Any of these recipes can be used with children however, I recommend adjusting the essential oil recipe ratios…”
Two:
“When using essential oils with children I always recommend that you apply the essential oil/blends to their feet to help ensure that they do not accidentally rub the essential oil into their eyes. This is by no means an essential oil rule however it is an extra safety precaution that you may want to consider.”
With these two safety tips for kids, I followed her advice to a tee and haven’t had any issues with using them on my children.
The Extras
There are tons of tips, and trick on where and how to use essential oils. She explains where to roll them (as an adult) for each recipe, or how to diffuse them so you can get the maximum benefit. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is new to essential oils, but wants to make some changes to their home.
Not sure what to buy? Where to buy your supplies? You can find it all in Essential Oils Made Easy: DIY Diffuser & Roller Bottle Blends. The best part? A special Thank You to Chantal Bernard for providing me a copy of Essential Oils Made Easy: DIY Diffuser & Roller Bottle Blends. It was the perfect way to start my essential oil adventure. I never realized how much you can do and how many at home items you could replace with something as simple as essential oils! And incase you’re not sure what you’re getting into, here’s Chantal with a little about the book:
Book Features
The book offers many features including 23 diffuser recipes & 18 roller bottle recipes.
One feature many people asked for when I sent out surveys early in the writing process was a section that talked about how you could use each of the individual essential oils. This book mentions 21 different oils and in Chapter 5 you will see an alphabetical listing of each oil with 1-3 ways that each oil can be used on it’s own. This section also makes recommendations for use and includes important safety precautions!
Thank you all sweet friends for joining me today. For more information about Chantal make sure you stop by her blog www.paintedteacup.com.
The set of rollers I have were crazy expensive! I will definitely be refilling them on my own now. Thanks!
