A Few Favourites: Falling for Fall

By now you CLEARLY know that Fall is by far my favourite season. I just finished some fun little updates around my house, infusing fall with out going overboard (which is so hard to hold myself back). Today I thought I would share with you some of the things I used (or similar items) to add fall touches!

First up… a surprise from Clint! Long story short my oldest daughter (who is 5 I should mention) was out with Clint running some errands one saturday. She asked him if they could go into “that store” and he agreed. To both of our surprise, she picked Urban Barn (way to go sweetheart!) and when I got home laster that day, I had a new surprise on my dining room table…
Table Runner

This amazing find you can get at Urban Barn for $29.99! They also have amazing placemats that match! I love the colours since you can use this any time of the year. I used this very neutral colour pallet and continued it through out the decor on my table.

Next on my list of Fall Favourites are these amazing soup bowls from Chapters! I love how they really are beautiful in both the black and the white. The Live On Good Soup and Fine Words writing ties in nicely with Thanksgiving coming up, but Soup Bowlreally you can use them any time of the year. I have to say this fall I’m really enjoying neutrals with little pops of colour, so these bowls would be beautiful already set out on your table, ready for your favourite homemade soup… like maybe this Apple & Maple Roasted Butternut Squash Soup? Perfect for any crisp, cool fall day!  You can find these online and at Chapters stores near you! They will run you about $15 a bowl.

Madrid 5-piece Cutlery SetCutlery… yes, cutlery has my heart singing. These black pieces are one heck of a splurge, but man oh man I think they are worth every last dime. The 5-piece Madrid Cutlery Set is also found at Chapters and has a whopping $75 per place setting price tag. There is just something about those forks and knives that keeps me coming back, and coming back… but I know that these hand-wash only utensils just aren’t practical for our growing family. Nagasaki Coffee SpoonsNow between you and me, I’m thinking about doing a little revamp of our kitchen counter area and creating a coffee station. I love the idea of not walking all over the kitchen for everything I need for my morning cup of java, so possibly, a little more realistic splurge would be these Nagasaki Coffee Spoon set, but they still have a high price tag at $95.00. Maybe for Christmas?? A girl can hope!

As I’m looking at what i’m really attracted to this fall I do see a very neutral theme going on. I’m sure I’ve mentioned before how having a base of neutrals to help decorate your kitchen (or really any space in your home) is key… you can always update around your neutrals and make your space feel fresh without having to do a total overhaul. That makes everyone happy (even your bank account!).

Now something I haven’t really mentioned in this series, is actual furniture. I have explained how and why we decided to order our reclaimed wood table, but not everyone is ready to make a financial commitment like that, or has the space for something like that. I used to live in a condo that had a small eat in kitchen and separate living room/dining room area. Had I seen this table, I know I would have scooped this up in Ingatorp Table Set - Ikea Canadaa second. I love love love the classic look of this table set, and had I had the knowledge at the time, I would have scooped this up! I love a round table, and better yet – this one expands. Right now Ikea is having their dining room table sale until October 7th and this beauty (on sale) is 100% affordable at $313.00. Yes another reason to scoop it up! You can add your own chairs, hit up a foe market and give it an eclectic look, or go with what Ikea has paired with it. Most of all, I love that it’s black. Easy for a family to up keep (and hide crumbs if you need to)!

These are just *some* of the items I’m crushing on now. Easy and fun finds always make my day, and every time I write one of these posts I always want to run out and buy all I see… but I think Clint would have a few words with me starting with “Kaitie, where are we going to store all of the new things you bought?” and maybe ending with “Did you really buy another dining room set??”. I have to admit, he may have a point. Next month, I’m tackling my home office, and setting up a more organized system for all of my awesome blog finds, loves and yes, I will leave space for the new ‘must-haves’ I stumble upon when i’m out shopping looking for inspiration!

Thank you guys so much for stopping by once again! If you have any ‘Favourite Fall Finds’ that are total must haves, let me know! Share in the comments below! October is the back at it month, and Hazel and I are on a pretty awesome schedule which means I’m back at it in my kitchen – and I do believe the kitchen is the heart of the home. Good recipes are coming your way, and good eats are being served up here in my home. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and spend quality time with the ones you love are are thankful for most. I am thankful for my family, my friends, good health, and being able to share with you my passion. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
