Deepika’s Chocolate & Date Shake

Hi Everyone and happy hump day! I have to say I love wednesdays… they always remind me that the week is half over, and I have a weekend to look forward to! It’s a really reminder to get through the rest of the week with the “two more day” mantra I sing on repeat. If you’re like me though, I sometimes find my meal plan or food organizing has fizzled a little (no more cereal and soy milk for this lady today), and I indulge in something off a bakery rack that I end up wishing I didn’t eat. Don’t get me wring, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the bakery and all the sweet goodness that ends up on my desk at work, or counter at home, but sometimes if i had woken up 5 minutes earlier I could have prevented the little misstep, and made something a little healthier, OR even just made something at home and saved the $9 price tag for breakfast.

This is why today, on any old regular hump day I am sharing with you another Foodie Mama blogger – Deepika! Deepika spends her days over at Easy Baby Meals. The beauty of her blog and recipes is almost everything she makes you can double for yourself… you’re not just feeding the little one healthy, you’re both getting the nutrients and vitamins needed to conquer the day (and skip the bakery). She’s is sharing with us a tasty 10 minute treat that is perfect for breakfast, lunch or really any snack in between!

Hello, everyone. I am so excited to be here today and share my recipe with you all. I would like to Thank Katie for giving me this opportunity. I blog at www.easybabymeals.com. Here I share recipes and ideas on making your own baby-toddler food at home. All the recipes are so simple, that they get ready in just a few minutes. Making baby food at home has never been so easy and delicious.

Today I am sharing with you a quick breakfast shake. It is made from dates. I got the inspiration for this shake when I was on vacation few months back. I had Date shake at Palm Springs for the first time for my breakfast and I fell in love with it. I had ordered it for my toddler, but I ended up having it too. This shake is quick and can be quite filling. The following recipe is good for the whole family.

I grew up having dates. It was my go-to snack whenever I had a sugar craving. Dates (https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/fruit/health-benefits-of-dates.html) are filled with vitamins and minerals. It is a good source of energy, sugar and fiber too. Essential minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium and zinc are found in dates.  It also contains vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, vitamin A and vitamin K. Dates help in relieving constipation, specially for babies and toddlers. They are good for maintaining bone, heart and nervous system health.

With so many advantages of having dates, making it as a part of a first meal  will, of course make your day sweet. So let’s go through the recipe of Chocolate and Date Shake.
